The PennDOT Driver License Center at Wellsboro Plaza handles the photo services Pennsylvania drivers need to keep licenses and IDs current — and for most Tioga County residents, it is the closest place to do that without a long drive to Williamsport or Mansfield.
Services offered on-site include renewal of a driver's license or photo ID, replacement of a lost or damaged card, updating a photograph or address, obtaining a REAL ID-compliant credential, and camera cards for change of name. Motorcycle endorsements and CDL photo services are typically handled here as well.
The center is a photo center, not a full driver-testing location, so knowledge and road tests are scheduled separately. Wait times are usually shortest early in the day and late in the afternoon.
It is not a glamorous corner of the plaza, but it matters. A rural teenager getting their first license, a widow updating an ID after moving, a farmer renewing a CDL between planting and harvest — they all pass through here. Pairing that routine errand with the plaza's 340 parking spaces and easy Route 6 access is a small, real quality-of-life win for the county.
