The Guthrie Medical Supply Depot is where a Tioga County family can leave a doctor's appointment and — steps away — pick up the walker, CPAP mask, or ostomy supplies they need to go on with life at home. It is one of the small conveniences that make rural healthcare workable.
The showroom stocks the everyday essentials families rely on: mobility aids like walkers, canes, wheelchairs, and rollators; bathroom safety gear including shower chairs, grab bars, and raised toilet seats; wound care and ostomy supplies; compression garments; CPAP masks and accessories; and diabetic testing supplies. Trained staff — many from the local area — help patients size and fit each item and handle insurance and Medicare paperwork.
Because the depot sits inside the same plaza as Guthrie's clinic, a discharge instruction and the equipment to follow through on it happen on the same trip. Grandparents don't have to drive to Sayre. Farmers don't lose a day of work.
