Community Resources for Independence (CRI) is a Center for Independent Living serving people with disabilities of all ages across north central Pennsylvania. Its Wellsboro Plaza office is a place where the philosophy is simple: the person receiving services decides the goals, and CRI helps make them possible.

Core services include information and referral, peer support from staff and volunteers who themselves live with disabilities, independent living skills training (budgeting, cooking, self-advocacy, using public benefits), transition support for youth moving from school into adult life, and nursing home transition and diversion for people who want to live in the community rather than a facility.

CRI staff also assist with assistive technology loans, home accessibility assessments, ADA and civil-rights advocacy, and applications for OVR vocational rehabilitation, waiver services, and social security benefits.

For families across the region, CRI has meant the difference between a loved one being placed in a nursing home and staying in their own kitchen with the right support. The plaza's accessible parking, level entrances, and proximity to medical and government partners reinforce that mission every single day.
