Experience Works
Employment training and placement for older workers across rural Pennsylvania.

Experience Works is a national non-profit that helps low-income older adults return to work through paid, part-time community service training. Its Wellsboro Plaza office is one of the organization's Pennsylvania locations and serves participants across Tioga and neighboring counties.
The centerpiece is the federally funded Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), authorized under Title V of the Older Americans Act. Eligible participants — generally aged 55 and older, and living on low incomes — are placed in paid training assignments at non-profits and public agencies such as libraries, senior centers, schools, and food pantries across the region. While training, participants get skills coaching, computer and job-search help, and support moving toward unsubsidized employment.
For a lot of these participants, this is the first real work opportunity in years — after a caregiving stretch, a factory closure, or a decade running a farm that no longer supports two people. Experience Works staff help with the practical barriers: outdated résumés, digital skills, transportation, and the confidence to walk into an interview again.
Neighboring the Area Agency on Aging and CareerLink, the office fits into a plaza-wide ecosystem where an older adult can find employment support, benefits counseling, and community programs at one Route 6 address.
